The Burmese ruby (Myanmar) is a rare stone, native to the region of Mogok, called the Valley of the Rubies. There are Ruby mines, but the country produces multiple other stones, including garnet, which has various colors including red and blood red.
A very dark red is characteristic of Burmese pigeon blood rubies, coming from the Ruby Valley. It is sometimes called Mogok ruby. It is an intense color that is more difficult to find than before. Burmese rubies also have a high level of fluorescence, which gives them a unique beauty in natural light.
Rubies are red because of the chromium present in their composition and the color pigeon blood indicates a greater presence of chromium. Les ruby exist in different shades of red, such as orange-red, pinkish, purplish... These are very hard stones (9/10 on the Mohs scale), mainly extracted in Asian countries, but the Mozambican rubies is becoming more and more famous in jewelry.
